Q- 방법론은 William Stephenson이 Abduction논리와 자아심리학의 과학정신을 기본으로 창안한 방법으로서 인간의 주관성의 세계를 과학적, 객관적으로 설명, 이해가능하게 하여 설명가설이나 이론을 산출하는 독특한 방법론이다.
간혹학의 연구주제들중 인간 내면 세계나 간호현상에 대한 이해가 Q-방법론을 통하여 포괄적으로 이루어질 수 있을 것이며 간호학의 지식체계 확립에 한 발자국 다가설 수 있을 것이다.
Q-methodology is a creative research method not only to understand, explain and explore richness of human subjectivity but also to know the nature of the phenomena broadly and more scientifically. It was invented by William Stephenson based on abductory logic, which was variously described as `retroduction´, `presumption´, `argument hypothesis´, `guessing instinct´ and was concerned with the invention or cereating of hypotheses and proposing a theory. Abduction logic concerned with ex-planation from the whole to an explanation. Abduction logic first became clear to Stephenson in relation to Q factor tbchnique. With Q methodology, the domain is subjectivity, the emphasis is on the individual because its another scientific creed is self psychology.
Founding Q on the premise that is possible in study subjectivity in a manner that is objective, scientific. Since Stephenson asserted that all experienced is behavior, and thoughts, feelings should be an able to precise, reliable, and objective investigation.
